Current Work
I’m continuing to explore different resist patterns using tape and sticky back plastic.
After the bisque firing, I attach the tape or sticky back plastic to form the pattern – this is the white area when the piece is finished. I use tape for lines, and sticky back plastic if I want non-linear shapes.
Then I brush on three thick coats of glaze, usually blue, green or grey. Before the glaze has dried completely, I use tweezers to remove the pieces that formed the resist pattern. Doing this too early can smudge the pattern; but too late makes it hard to remove.
Finally, I brush on three thick coats of white glaze, and the piece is ready for firing.
